Clear the Zone: Keep all bystanders, pets, and vehicles at least 50 feet away. The drum can throw rocks at high velocities.
Locate Utilities: Ensure all underground power, water, and gas lines are marked (Call 811) before engaging the soil.
Check Couplers: Ensure hydraulic flat-face couplers are wiped clean before connecting to the mini skid steer to prevent system contamination.
Operating Instructions
Engine Throttle: Always run the machine at Full Throttle (High RPM) while raking. This provides the hydraulic power needed to rotate the drum through tough soil.
Rotation Direction (The "Undercut"): Set the drum to rotate toward the machine (teeth digging into the dirt).
Backward Travel: This is the most effective way to finish-grade. Set the drum to spin "Forward" while you drive the loader in reverse.
Positioning: Lower the rake until the gauge wheels are firmly on the ground.
Adjust the depth using the skid steer’s tilt cylinders so the teeth are just touching the soil (for grooming) or 1–2 inches deep (for tilling).
Ground Speed: Move slowly (1–3 mph). If the drum stops spinning or the machine "bounces," slow down your travel speed.
Important "Pro-Tips" for Best Results
Avoid "Diving": Do not let the front of the rake dig in too deep; use the gauge wheels to maintain a level grade.
Angling the Rake: Use the manual or hydraulic angle to windrow rocks and debris to one side for easy cleanup.
Dry Soil Only: Avoid using the rake in mud or overly wet clay. It will clog the drum and produce a poor finish.
Renter Responsibility
Grease Points: If operating for more than 8 hours, ensure the side bearing and drive chain are greased.
Damage Alert: Stop immediately if you hit a large stump, boulder, or metal pipe.
Return Clean: Please pressure wash or hose off heavy mud/debris before returning to avoid a cleaning fee.
