Rated Operating Capacity (ROC): Do not exceed 1,100 lb. ROC including the attachment. On flat ground, you can typically reach the full 1,100 lb. ROC. On rough or uneven ground, it is highly recommended to reduce your load by 25–50% when traveling over bumps or slopes to prevent the machine from tipping forward or bouncing. If the rear tracks of the VM1000 begin to feel "light" or start to lift of the ground, you have exceeded the safe lifting capacity. Immediately lower the load and reduce the weight.
Stay on the Platform: Always keep both feet on the operator platform while the machine is in motion. Never operate the controls while standing on the ground. Keep it Low and Slow: Travel with the loader arms and attachment low to the ground (6–10 inches). Carrying a load high significantly increases the risk of a tip-over.
Respect the Slope: Always drive straight up and down hills. Never drive across a slope. Keep the heavy end of the machine (the rear, unless the bucket is fully loaded) uphill.
With a load: Keep the load uphill.
Empty: Keep the engine (rear) uphill.
Bystander Safety: Maintain a "Danger Zone" of 20 feet around the machine. Safety: Ensure the emergency kill switch is functional and the LED work lights are clear.
Machine Operation & Control
Startup: Ensure the throttle is at 25% and all hydraulic levers are in the neutral position before turning the key. Allow the engine to warm up for 2–3 minutes.
Shutdown: After heavy use, let the engine idle for 2 minutes before shutting it off. This protects the engine components and the hydraulic system. Park on level ground. Lower the boom until the attachment is flat on the floor. Engage the Parking brake and remove the key.
Joystick Handling: The VM1000 uses responsive hydraulic controls. Use smooth, gradual movements. Jerking the joysticks can cause the machine to "buck," especially with heavy attachments like the Harley Rake.
Hydraulic Auxiliaries: When using powered attachments (Auger, Rake, Trencher), ensure the flat-face couplers are fully seated. If the attachment loses power, check that the auxiliary lever hasn't accidentally kicked into neutral.
Warning Lights: If a warning light appears or a hydraulic leak occurs, shut down the engine immediately and call (435) 708-1927.
Preventative Maintenance
Fluid Check: Check engine oil and hydraulic fluid levels every morning before work begins.
Track Tension: Keep an eye on the rubber tracks. If they appear loose or "sagging" more than 1 inch from the middle roller, contact JBL immediately for adjustment.
Grease Daily: Apply grease to the main loader arm pins and attachment plate pivot points every 8 hours of use.
Fueling: Use Clean Diesel only. Ensure the fuel cap is tightened to prevent dust and debris from entering the tank on windy job sites.
Pro-Tips for Peak Performance
Traction: On loose gravel or sand, avoid sharp "zero-turns" to prevent throwing a track. Make wide, gradual turns when possible.
Quick Relief: Use the auxiliary connector’s pressure relief mechanism before swapping attachments to prevent hydraulic lock.
Float Function: Use the "Floating Function" for grading or snow removal to allow the boom to follow ground contours without manual adjustment.
